The Soul of Arabian Perfumery
Oud is formed only when a wild agarwood tree is wounded and answers with resin. It can take decades. Fewer than two trees in a hundred ever produce it, which is why the finest oud is weighed in grams and read like a vintage — Cambodian, sweet and leathery; Indian, dense and animalic; Malaysian, cool and green.
